Lush Announce Long-Awaited 'Spooky', 'Split', 'Lovelife' Reissues on 4AD

The wait is over. All three studio albums by Lush will finally be back in print on vinyl starting 11 August, 2023. + Pre-order all three albums from 4AD here + + Pre-order from the store of your choice here + Lush by Matt Anker Built around the songwriting talents of Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush successfully defined a myriad of 90s scenes such as shoegaze, dream pop and Britpop before they disbanded in 1998. A much-loved band who briefly reformed in 2016, recent years has seen a new, young audience fall in love with their music after discovering it via TikTok, Spotify et al. And outside of a lavish Record Store Day career retrospective boxset in 2016, all three studio albums – Spooky(1992), Split (1994) and Lovelife (1996) – have been unavailable on vinyl since the 90s. With demand high, the band have been working with renowned engineer / producer Kevin Vanbergen to help them remaster their catalogue, starting with their studio albums. Peter Murphy's Artworks NOW LIVE

EXCLUSIVE SERIES of Peter Murphy's artworks NOW LIVE Peter Murphy unveils his debut series of artworks, exploring his iconic gothic aesthetic through self-portraiture and music iconography.  Our first release includes a very special series of 13 framed artworks and is an in-depth exploration of Peter's introspective journey throughout the last few years, with strong references to his 'Godfather of Goth' persona. Bold colours, gothic undertones, energetic brushstrokes, and distinctive references to his musical career show how interlaced the artist and musician are. 21 artworks will be released online throughout July and August. Peter Murphy has contemplated this series since he was 17, when he was accepted into art school. Unable to attend due to work, he took a different path and progressed into music. However, Peter has always been a passionate fine artist. Coming soon: There will be two additional releases of original artworks through Peter's artworks site and a

Catherine Wheel Reissues Available At Proper Records Aug 8th

Proper Records have announced pre-orders for the re-issues of Catherine Wheel’s first 3 albums, Ferment, Chrome and Happy Days with a release date of August 18, 2023.   Formed in Great Yarmouth in 1990, Catherine Wheel – singer guitarist Rob Dickinson, guitarist Brian Futter, bassist Dave Hawes and drummer Neil Sims – are possibly one of the greatest lost bands of that fabled decade. Swimming against several tides, they were loosely defined as 'shoegaze', and failed to fit in with the grunge or britpop movements in those years. They were of a size and scale to be supported by the upcoming Radiohead. Melody Maker said that Radiohead were like Catherine Wheel as they "function along a similar catharsis/contrivance axis, ladling existential angst into skilfully imposing song structures." Overseen by Pixies producer Gil Norton and recorded at Pink Floyd's Britannia Row Studios, where band favourites, Joy Division, had made Closer, Chrome marked a huge step forward, h

Pete International Airport Release New Album 'It Felt Like The End Of The World' On Little Cloud Records

Pete International Airport’s third album, It Felt Like the End of the World, is a triumph of process and vision. Named after a song by Peter G. Holmström’s other band, The Dandy Warhols, the eclectic project nails the elusive aesthetic of unexpected yet inviting sound art. The band’s quest to build immersive soundscapes that are also classic, catchy songs succeeds, in part, due to Holmström’s uncanny ability to curate and his penchant for dropping collaborators into challenging creative spaces—both virtual and actual—then letting them duke it out. Rachel Goswell from Slowdive, Alexander Hackett from Pang Attack, Dion Lunadon from A Place To Bury Strangers and the D4, and, none-other-than Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick (on 12 string bass), tangle with Peter’s usual coterie of musical foils. The results are folded into Holmström’s hyper-stylized world of symbols, themes, and archetypes.  The LP's core roster boasts the cream of the neo-psychedelic crop, of which The Dandy Warhols, an

Thanatoloop Announce Limited Edition Cassette On Witch Cat Records

From Witch Cat Records: Excited to announce the next Witch Cat Records release "Bioanarquía" from Thanatoloop . Available as a Limited Edition Cassette or Digital download. Available August 4th. Pre-orders start today.  Listen to the first single Nada es de Nadie on the Witch Cat Records Bandcamp Page below. At its core, Bioanarquía is an experimental psychedelic album. Multi-instrumentalist Michel Leroy uses layers of guitars, synths, electronic rhythms, and strange noises to push the boundaries of music collapsing in on itself to create walls of sound, otherworldly ambient pieces and intense chaotic moments. All is held together by Michel's rich vocals with lyrics of optimism in oppressive times. “This album I think is even more optimistic than my previous release “Vértigo”, but also with more abrasive moments. It is less industrial, more ambient, and has rhythm experiments with latin signatures, also more gaze guitars besides the acoustic one on track 3. My vocals are

Glasgow Darkwave Band Hanging Freud Release New Single + Video + Album With Spleen+

Hanging Freud are a Glasgow based production duo of Paula Borges and Jonathan Skinner. As a duo they combine their somewhat nomadic past with multicultural backgrounds of coming from Sao Paulo (Brazil) and London (UK), into a body of work that is more often than not described as uncompromising and genre defying. The band joins hands with the Belgian label Spleen+(division of Alfa Matrix, home to artists such as Front 242 and Trisomie 21) for the release of their 7th studio album, "Worship". The album will be released on digital platforms, double CD (with exclusive EP) and coloured LPs. The first single/video "Falling Tooth" is available below, with free download. “Falling Tooth” evokes the band’s influences ranging from post punk, ethereal, synthgaze, cold wave, ambient pop or yet experimental electronica. Paula’s vocals are dark, haunting, almost glacial, her enunciation is both plaintive and full of echoing fragile grace. While the cinematic music warps them all
