OMD Release New Album And Share New Single 'Bauhaus Staircase'

Bauhaus Staircase is the upcoming fourteenth studio album by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), and the fourth since their 2006 reformation. It will be released on 27 October 2023 by White Noise Records. The title track was released as a single on 22 August. During 2020's COVID-19 lockdown in the United Kingdom, OMD frontman Andy McCluskey "rediscovered the creative power of total bloody boredom", writing the majority of what would become Bauhaus Staircase. Bandmate Paul Humphreys had recently become a father, which delayed his mixing of the album.Humphreys notes that the record also includes older songs that OMD "wrote for previous albums and couldn't find a way to finish." Its release – set for 27 October 2023 – was preceded by a single, the title track, on 22 August. The title is derived from the Oskar Schlemmer painting, Bauhaus Stairway (1932). McCluskey has stated that the album is likely to be OMD's last. Track Listin

In 1990, a young American band, full of a precise kind of noise and darkness, were special guests on the US tour being undertaken by a group who had noise and darkness, poise and catharsis of their own. The young band: Nine Inch Nails. Those headliners: The Jesus and Mary Chain. Almost thirty years later, an invitation was extended. Would the Reid brothers care to reverse the roles and open for Nine Inch Nails on their own North American tour? Trent Reznor had been a

The Fall Reissue Album ‘Shift - Work’

It was all change when The Fall signed to Fontana. Guitarist Martin Bramah, who had founded the group with Smith, returned, replacing Smith's ex-wife Brix, who had been in the group since 1983. There were few cries of sell-out, however, when The Fall signed to a major; it was just part of an evolutionary process. The three Fontana albums, Extricate, Shift- Work and Code: Selfsh were stunningly consistent. With Martin Bramah and keyboard player Marcia Schofeld dismissed from the band, The Fall worked as a four- piece (Craig Scanlon, guitar; Steve Hanley, bass; Simon 'Funky Si' Wolstencroft on drums) for the frst time in the group's career. Shift-Work from April 1991 is another commercial Fall high- water mark; it contains Idiot Joy Showland, Smith's rant against bandwagon- jumping Madchester bands ("The shapeless kecks fapping up a storm, look at what they are: a pack of worms."), the one- time album title track, The War Against Intelligence, and the bucoli
